A conference on climate change, to be held in Poznan
Poland is ready for a conference on climate change, to be held in Poznan, western Poland, in December, Secretary General of the UN Convention on Climate Yvo de Boer has said. The conference is to cost some 90 million zloty and funds will be contributed by Poland's the National Environment Protection Fund as no money was assigned for the purpose in this year budget, Environment Minister Maciej Nowicki told a joint news conference with de Boer.
An information meeting of environment ministers from 42 countries will be held in Warsaw in October to work our draft position for the conference in Poznan.
Nowicki recalled that the conference in Poland is to prepare a global deal on actions for environment protection for 2009.
The minister stressed that UN experts assess that Poznan will host 8-10 thousand delegates at the conference that will last two weeks from December 1.
